Amid frustration and dismay from customers, Bremer Bank closed the doors at its branch in Berthold on October 29th. However, State Bank & Trust of Kenmare-Berthold Office opened for business in the same location on November 9th, offering full banking services Monday through Friday from 9 am to 4 pm.

The Kenmare Honkers volleyball team rolled into post-season play under the slogan “Raise your expectations,” and rode that theme to a third place finish in the 2010 Class B state tournament.

The Honkers repeated as Region 6 champions for the fifth consecutive year on Thursday. Kenmare swept the Bottineau Stars 3-0 in the title match before a standing and cheering student section outfitted in maroon and gold and adorned with beads, sparkling gold wigs and a few scattered crowns to support senior hitter Katie King.

By all accounts, Larry Jacobson of Norma was a hardworking and loyal young man who had a future as a farmer or mechanic, with a family of his own. Instead, Larry’s life ended 40 years ago on August 26, 1970, when the helicopter he was riding was shot down by enemy forces in Ba Xugen Province, South Vietnam.
