Greenwing Day location changed to Tasker's Coulee for August 13th event

The location of Greenwing Day on the Des Lacs National Wildlife Refuge at Kenmare has been changed for the August 13th event.

7/20/11 (Wed)

The location of Greenwing Day on the Des Lacs National Wildlife Refuge at Kenmare has been changed for the August 13th event.

Greenwing Day will now take place at Tasker’s Coulee south of the refuge headquarters area, not at the Boat Dock area north of town as previously announced.

The north auto tour route along the Boat Dock road is in poor condition because of high water and runoff during the spring and summer, and has been closed to public travel this season.

The schedule remains the same for all children and youth up to age 17, with a bus leaving from the Kenmare High School parking lot at 8 am for anyone who wants a ride to the event. The bus will return to KHS between 1:30 and 2 pm.

Parents are also welcome to attend Greenwing Day and are especially encouraged to participate with their younger children.

The schedule features hands-on stations covering outdoor topics for kids. Lunch will be served and door prizes will be awarded to all the young participants. There is no cost to kids or their parents for any of the Greenwing Day events.

Registration will take place at Tasker’s Coulee beginning at 8:30 am. No pre-registration is necessary, but large groups are encouraged to pre-register by calling 701-385-4367, 701-240-9008 or 701-340-5903.

Greenwing Day is sponsored by Ducks Unlimited, Kenmare Goosefest, North Dakota Game and Fish, Kenmare City Gaming/Minot Hockey Boosters and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
