The year of 2017 was an exciting year for the Pioneer Village. Two large donations have led to an expansion of the village, which will be presented at this year’s Pioneer Day. The Pioneer Village was given the V & R Toy Museum, as well as a place to house the museum.

The V & R Toy Museum was created by Vernon and Rose Eymann. Vern had a lifelong love for building and collecting farm machinery toys. According to Rose Eyemann, he started collecting in 1984 and building in 1986. By 1999, Vern had enough toys, trophies, hats, and buckles to create a museum. The structure for the toy museum took the Eymanns nearly a year to create.

Before Vern Eyemann passed away in 2014, he had more than 2,000 items in his museum collection. Rose has since then taken care of the museum and recently donated it to the Pioneer Village.

Of course the Pioneer Village was eager to accept the donation, but where would they house the Eymann’s extensive toy collection? Well, thanks to the generosity of Bob and Kathy Mau, the V & R Toy Museum has a safe and new place to be displayed.

The Maus owned a house and lot right next to the Pioneer Village. The house is located right behind the Hartland Church and white school house. They were benevolent enough to donate both the house and the lot to the village.

The Pioneer Village is grateful for both donations. They have since redone the house to showcase wall to wall shelving for the toys. Also, with the addition of the house, the Pioneer Village now has three bathrooms.

Pioneer Day, Sunday, July 8, will see the dedication of the new V& R Toy Museum... Read EVERY WORD on EVERY PAGE of The Kenmare News by subscribing--online or in print!
