Skating rink grand opening set...

Ice time... Many kids have taken advantage of Kenmare's newly re-established ice skating rink. The grand opening of the rink will take place this Saturday with several activities planned for the afternoon and early evening.

Heather Thompson was reluctant to meet with the Kenmare City Council last fall about getting the ice skating rink up and running.

And now, on the eve of the rink’s 2021 grand opening, she is glad she did because it is turning out much better than she imagined.

Thompson has quite an event planned for Saturday afternoon into Saturday evening. The rink, which has two sheets of ice, will be open from 4-7 p.m. She said people can skate later, but the festivities will conclude at 7 p.m.

A number of door prizes will be given away, Thompson has hired a disc jockey who will not only play music, but will add a light show as the sun sets....
