A single woman makes a long journey to one of the most remote places on the planet.
She encounters dangerous animals in the jungle. She survives kidnappings and hijackings, and returns home to America to tell the tale, leaving behind dear friends among the native peoples.
These could be the elements of a Hollywood thriller--or the life of Kenmare native Marie Modin, who has spent most of the past 34 years in service to the New Tribes Mission (NTM) and is planning to return to her work with the organization soon.
“I would like to have things in order and be ready to leave by Thanksgiving,” she said. With plans to sell her home and many of her possessions, Marie will enter service with NTM at a time in her life when most people consider retirement.
This will be her third stint with New Tribes Mission and its program dedicated to “…mobilizing, equipping and coordinating missionaries to evangelize unreached people groups, translate the Scriptures and see indigenous New Testament churches established….,” according to the NTM purpose statement...
