Upgrading planned for portion of U.S. Highway 52 . . . A 46-mile portion of U.S. Highway 52 from N.D. Highway 5 north of Kenmare to U.S. Highway 2 at Brooks Ranch, is scheduled for upgrading with passing lanes. The project is tentatively scheduled for 2023.

There’s been a renewed push to get safety measures into place along the U.S. Highway 52 corridor, but it wasn’t soon enough to stop a double fatal at Anamoose on March 4.
Since then social media has lit up like a Christmas tree in support of the North Dakota Department of Transportation adding another two lanes, or at least passing lanes to make the highway safer from the Canadian border to Interstate 94 at
It turns out the North Dakota Department of Transportation has a project in its three-year plan that includes adding passing lanes from N.D. Highway 5 north of Kenmare to U.S. Highway 2 at Brooks Ranch.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t include safety measures to the southeast of
According to DOT, 46.2 miles of U.S. 52 will have passing lanes installed at a cost of $10.8 million with $9.7 million being federal funds.
The project is tentatively slated for 2023 and would come six years after North Dakota and Saskatchewan transportation officials met in Kenmare to discuss the four-laning of U.S. 52 from the border to Minot...
