Donnybrook American Legion is 100 years old

Donnybrook Doughboy... Clarence McCormack stands in front of a military tent at a forward operating base in France, circa 1918. American Legion Post 195 in Donnybrook was named after McCormack in 1920 after he was killed in action during the war.

On July 28, 1920, 15 World War I Soldiers in Donnybrook signed a formal request for a local American Legion post.

On the application to state headquarters in Fargo, the name Clarence McCormack American Legion Post 195 was requested.

The name was used to honor Clarence McCormack who was killed in action during World War I.

Just two days later, state commander Jack Williams wrote a letter to the Donnybrook group telling them that Donnybrook would have a charter...
