Mouse River Park evacuated as flooding deemed certain
Renville County Emergency Manager Kristi Titus faced about 50 grim faces Sunday afternoon when she delivered the news that Mouse River Park would have to be completely evacuated by Thursday at 5 pm because of the expected river flows.

Mouse River Park faces historically high flows and it's still raining in Canada
Tuesday morning, fire departments from Kenmare, Tolley, Mohall and Sherwood were mobilized by 10 am to assist with sandbagging and evacuation efforts at Mouse River Park.

Lake Darling also releasing water at historic volumes
In response to historic releases from the Rafferty, Alameda and Boundary reservoirs on the Mouse River in southern Saskatchewan, the Lake Darling dam will increase its own releases to unprecedented levels this week.

Baptist Home festivities on Thursday for 50th anniversary
Ask Karen Schwartz, Baptist Home of Kenmare administrator, about the facility’s best qualities, and one of the first things she’ll say is that the staff members offer high quality service, regardless of the circumstances. “You have to be flexible to work here,” she said. “No two days are ever alike.”

50 years of care at the Baptist Home of Kenmare
In April 1960, a representative of the Northwest Baptist Home Society in Minneapolis was in Kenmare to organize arrangements to remodel the former Deaconess Hospital, built in 1916, into a Home for the Aged and Infirm. The building had been vacant for several months at that point, after the opening of the new hospital. With Dan and Ruth Breding as administrators, remodeling work began.

Tobacco-Free group prefers ordinance comes from Council
Members of the Kenmare Tobacco-Free Coalition met with Terese Skjordal, Troy Hedberg and Todd Ankenbauer of the Kenmare City Council Health Committee Monday night to discuss a proposed smoke-free air ordinance for Kenmare.

Young adults from across the country serve together in the area on AmeriCorps projects
The 10 volunteers serving with the AmeriCorps National Civilian Conservation Corps Oak 2 team arrived at the Des Lacs National Wildlife Refuge at the end of March trained for fire duties and ready to burn.
