When North Dakota’s deer rifle season opens Friday, hunters in the Kenmare area may find themselves walking more and complaining about the wet spring and summer conditions that are keeping several roads closed on the Des Lacs National Wildlife Refuge.

Meat processing plant has new owners

The old Chevy pickup, familiar to many Kenmare residents, will still be seen around town hauling custom processed meat or a hog for butchering, but the drivers will be Eric and Amy Seykora now, instead of Arlen Gartner.
