Bombers of all ages and from all decades are invited to the Berthold All-School Reunion, scheduled for July 4th, 5th and 6th in honor of the centennial of Berthold Public School’s first graduating class.

Events for the long weekend begin during the city’s annual Fourth of July celebration, with a parade scheduled for 10:30 am that day. Bomber alumni are encouraged to enter floats and line up at the school ground that morning.

The fun continues with races, egg tossing and pie eating contests, an ice cream social and more. The annual golf tournament will take place during the afternoon and a fireworks display will cap the evening.

Official reunion registration begins at 9 am Friday, July 5th, in the school gymnasium and continues until 5 pm, with refreshments.

Other events for the day include bus tours to see the new businesses and industry in and surrounding the city, especially as related to the oil and gas development taking place in western North Dakota. “There are a lot of things that have happened around Berthold in the last five years,” said Neil Schwope, Berthold All-School Reunion chairman.

Join your former Berthold classmates in the city park for a catered meal that evening, served from 5:30 to 7 pm. An open microphone will be available there to allow for spontaneous musical entertainment, skit performances, old school cheers, or simply sharing school day memories.

“Let’s have some volunteer entertainment, from the locals and you graduates,” Schwope said.

Top the evening off with a street dance downtown, beginning at 9 pm, and show off your best high school dance moves.

Individual classes are encouraged to arrange events or gatherings for Saturday, July 6th. “We want to allow time for people to visit with family and friends,” said Schwope.

Further details about all reunion activities, including the bus tours and specific class gatherings, will be available at the school’s registration center.

Registration for the reunion costs $20, which includes the catered meal in the park. Persons who intend to come to the reunion should contact Gen Hall at 701-453-3158 or 701-240-0674 by June 10th in order to provide an accurate count to the caterers, but the fee does not need to be paid until the July 5th registration event at the school.

T-shirts and caps commemorating the 2013 reunion will be available for sale during the event.

Bombers registering for and attending the All-School Reunion will receive a booklet featuring the graduating class members from each year, school history and some school photos. The booklets can be purchased and mailed to alumni unable to attend the reunion by sending $5 to Gen Hall, P.O. Box 127, Berthold, ND 58718.

Berthold graduates are invited to send their current contact information and direct any questions to Gen Hall. Alumni are also asked to share the reunion plans with their former classmates and school friends.

“If you know someone who hasn’t received this information,” Schwope said, “please pass it along to them.”
